North Island New Zealand: Auckland New Zealand’s largest city & Wellington New Zealand’s capital city are both located on the North Island. Amongst things to see and do whilst visiting the north island are Art Galleries such as the Kauri Museum at Matakohe. This museum helps to explain the history behind the use of Kauri gum & timber and also showcases some Antique Kauri furniture. Another way to discover the Northland is by air taking one of the Scenic Flights on offer, visitors can choose from Small Aircraft (Float Planes) or Helicopters and see the spectacular landscape from above, plus sights like the dormant volcano Mount Tarawera, Lake Rotoru, Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve + more, from one of the Scenic flight tour operators. Sailing charters & Boat cruises are another way to explore the coastline, and marine wildlife. There are also Reserves that gives visitors tours whilst being informed about the work to save the flightless Kiwi bird. A wide selection of attractions, from theme parks, zoos, aquariums, gardens through to museums to visit on the North Island. Near the northernmost tip of the North Island (this was where the first meetings between the Europeans & the indigenous people of New Zealand took place ) can be found a group of islands named the The Bay of Islands, (144 approx) where visitors may glimpse pods of Dolphins leaping through the waters, swim with the dolphins, see the stunning coastal scenery, explore the islands, by way of one of the available tours to help you make the most of your visit. Other things to do whilst visiting the North Island include Kayaking, Bungyjumping, Diving, Hiking & Kayaking
