Glendaruel Bed and Breakfast on Stewart Island in New Zealand is situated bordering scenic reserve, a few minutes' walk from township, 3 minutes from Golden Bay wharf. Handy for water taxis, kayak hire, bush walks, sandy beaches. You can have a beautiful sandy beach to yourself, even at the height of the tourist season. Golden Bay, three minutes walk from here, is typical of the clean unspoilt beaches which fringe the island. Our biggest advantage at Glendaruel is our idyllic bush setting. We look out over a bush reserve and our colourful garden is full of native birds. Soon after you arrive, there could be a line up of Kakas on the balcony, eager to welcome you. From the other balcony, we look over beautiful Paterson Inlet, with the islands of Iona and Ulva prominent.

Rooms: One king / twin bedroom, one queen, one single, each with ensuite. Guest lounge, 3 covered balconies overlooking Paterson Inlet and forest canopy.

Tourist Information: Stewart Island is bigger than Singapore but only a tiny corner is inhabited. The 'Coast to Coast' trip is worth considering. You fly to Mason Bay and land on the beach, then walk coast to coast at the island's narrowest point, finishing your 4 to 5 hour walk at Freshwater Hut, where a water taxi picks you up and brings you home. Kiwi Spotting trip is very popular, involving a boat trip and a bush walk, in search of the national icon. Then there are a variety of scenic trips by water taxi or larger boats. Yes, there is plenty to keep you interested and occupied.
