At Chestnut House, we offer a truly relaxed and friendly atmosphere in our 300 year -old property. Verena and Paul own and run the hotel, having gained a wealth of experience of hotel and catering management in the UK, Africa and Central Europe. We believe that our professionalism and attention to detail are essential factors in ensuring that our guests have the most comfortable and enjoyable stay possible. Chestnut House was originally a farmhouse with parts of the building dating back to 1550. It was completely renovated in the late 1990s and Verena and Paul are now very proud of the hotel’s 5-Star/Silver Award status. Located in the old village of Woolavington, 5 minutes from the M5 (Junction 23) and 10 minutes from the centre of Bridgwater, Chestnut House is secluded and very peaceful at all times. There are no large signs displayed on the road, symbolising the quiet, special nature of Chestnut House. The hotel has seven guest rooms, all en suite and all offering everything from a bath robe to hair dryer, television, tea, coffee and chocolates aimed at making the guest’s stay with us just right. There are several areas for a guest to find his/her own “space”. We have an elegantly decorated, yet homely lounge with an open fire in winter, a drawing room with leather armchairs facing the 16th century inglenook, The Garden Room which guests often use in after breakfast for business meetings or simply desk space for their laptops. The veranda runs the length of the old farmhouse and is a wonderfully serene location to sip a cool drink (or hot when necessary) whilst watching the abundant birdlife across the garden. There are benches throughout the established and wonderfully designed garden all waiting to offer the guest the opportunity to fully relax. We are fully licensed and present a comprehensive wine list as well as a large choice of spirits, liqueurs and beers.
